About The Arc
The Mugen Train Arc is a major storyline in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba where Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Inosuke team up with the Flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku. They board a passenger train to fight a Lower Rank One demon named Enmu who traps passengers in deep dreams, culminating in a devastating battle against the Upper Rank Three demon Akaza.
The Mission
Tanjiro and his friends join Kyojuro Rengoku on the infinite train to investigate sudden disappearances and defeat the hidden threat.
The Dream Trap
Enmu uses his blood demon art to put all the slayers and passengers to sleep, forcing the heroes to break free from their ideal dream worlds by finding a way to wake up inside their own minds.
The Train Battle
After waking up, the young slayers fight to protect the passengers and defeat Enmu, who has physically merged with the entire locomotive.
The Upper Rank Appears
The legendary battle between Kyojuro Rengoku and Akaza was a brutal, emotional clash where the Flame Hashira utilized fierce sword techniques against the upper-rank demon's overwhelming martial arts. Despite suffering a fatal blow, Rengoku mustered his final strength to trap Akaza until sunrise forced the demon to tear himself free and flee. The fight reached its emotional and physical peak when Rengoku unleashed his ultimate move, Flame Breathing Esoteric Art, Ninth Form: Rengoku, charging forward with blazing intensity. Akaza punctured the Hashira's solar plexus, but Rengoku locked his sword, gripped the demon's arms, and held him tight as the morning light began to break. Panicked by the rising sun, Akaza ripped his own arms out of his body to escape the fatal daylight, leaving Rengoku to pass away with a smile after successfully protecting every single passenger.
Kyojuro Rengoku Sacrifice
Kyojuro Rengoku’s sacrifice in Demon Slayer: Mugen Train was a tragic, heroic battle where he gave his life to protect over 200 passengers and his younger comrades against the Upper Rank Three demon, Akaza. Despite suffering fatal wounds, Rengoku held the powerful demon in place until dawn, dying with a proud smile after fulfilling his mother's wish to protect the weak.
